The “ET – Energy Training for South East Europe” is a pan-regional one-year energy training programme, initiated by the British Embassy Ljubljana. In October 2005, the countries of the South East Europe agreed to adopt the EU energy legislation by signing The Energy Community Treaty. This will lead to liberalisation and deregulation of the energy market, which in turn will attract new investments and increase the security of supply.
The programme takes place in Slovenia and involves energy experts from the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey, Moldova, UNMIK and Ukraine.
The project's key objectives are:
• to provide participating countries with the know-how and best practice on how to pass and implement the EU energy legislation and open energy markets
• to establish a strong network of energy experts across the region.
The programme will focus on UK and Slovenian experiences, but keeping the international dimension. The British energy market is one of the most developed in the EU, while Slovenia has made energy liberalisation and regional co-operation its key EU Presidency priorities.
